Charles Upham



A Famous NZ Soldier




Captain Charles Upham won the Victoria Cross and Bar for bravery.
Upham destroyed German machine-gun posts using hand grenades.
Only three soldiers have ever won two VCs, Upham is one of them.




He won the bar because he helped his men escape when they were surrounded by German tanks.

    Hi Cameron, thanks for sharing what you found out about Charles Upham. Did you know that the medal is made from gunmetal from a weapon. That's pretty cool I think. Maybe you could include a picture of what Charles Upham looks like next time.
